UOA Group, a leading Malaysian property developer with a strong track record of CONQUAS-benchmarked projects in Singapore, sought to maintain the same rigorous quality standards for their Kuala Lumpur development portfolio. Since CONQUAS assessment is exclusively available for Singapore-based projects, UOA selected BuildQAS as their preferred quality benchmarking partner for the Southpoint Residences development in Mid Valley City.

The challenge:

UOA's project teams and contractor Allied Engineering needed a structured quality programme that could align workmanship expectations across the entire development — covering internal finishes, wet areas, facades, and functional elements — to the same standard their Singapore projects had been benchmarked against.

BuildQAS programme:

BuildQAS delivered a comprehensive quality training programme for 50 project staff members drawn from UOA and Allied Engineering, covering:

- BuildQAS assessment criteria and scoring methodology - Workmanship standards for internal finishes, tiling, painting, and carpentry - Functional testing requirements including water-tightness and window performance - Defect identification and documentation processes - Best practices for quality control during and after construction

Following the training, BuildQAS conducted a formal trial assessment of the Southpoint Residences development. The trial assessment gave the project team direct exposure to how a formal BuildQAS score is determined — enabling them to identify gaps and improve workmanship before the final assessment.

Outcome:

The training programme received a satisfaction rating of 4.3 out of 5 from participants, reflecting its practical relevance to the team's day-to-day site responsibilities. The trial assessment provided a clear baseline benchmark, helping UOA and Allied Engineering set measurable quality targets for the remainder of the project.
